The flight follows the rain
Subterranean termites swarm in Central Texas from roughly March to May, usually on a warm, humid day right after rain. That flight is the one moment a hidden colony makes itself obvious.
A swarm indoors is already established
The rest of the year they are still working. Activity does not stop in winter here because the soil under a heated slab stays warm enough.
Off-season does not mean inactive
Clay soil on this stretch shrinks and cracks in summer, which opens paths straight to the slab edge. That is why an annual inspection matters more here than in places with stable soil.

I saw swarmers, is my house already damaged?
Not necessarily. Swarmers mean a mature colony nearby, and the inspection tells you whether it is feeding on your structure. Finding them early is the good outcome.
